My name is Tarshik Upadhyay, from India, and I have completed my postgraduate degree in public health with a first class from the prestigious Indian Institute of Public Health, Shillong (PHFI) . And a strong background in pharmaceutical science. Throughout my academic journey since receiving the P&G Health scholarship, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of public health principles, research methodologies, and data analytics, which I believe will be highly valuable in effectively executing the responsibilities of this role. My thesis examined the spatial and temporal distribution of malaria in Tripura over a seven-year period in a retrospective analysis. As a dedicated public health professional, I have acquired valuable experience in the field, particularly in TB elimination programs. Through close collaboration with the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) staff, I successfully worked with various stakeholders, handling nine district DTOs in Gujarat and five from South India, to implement and monitor TB control initiatives. My contributions included providing training and guidance to enhance program effectiveness and ensure compliance with national guidelines. In addition, I actively participated in other critical public health initiatives, such as the reproductive and child health (RCH) department and the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) program, where I closely collaborated with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (Urban public health centers). I also collaborated with the Airport Health Authority (AHA) to conduct surveillance and ensure yellow fever vaccination compliance among travelers. Furthermore, my active participation in the Pulse Polio Immunization Program significantly contributed to its successful implementation. To further expand my knowledge and interdisciplinary approach, I completed a "One Health" course from IIT Kharagpur with an A+ grade.
