Dubai charity auction sells car plates and mobile numbers for an astonishing price of 4 million dirhams and 3.2 million dirhams

A charity auction in Dubai saw the V39 license plate sold for a marvelous 4 million dirhams (about $1.1 m). At the event held on Sunday, 10 fancy car number plates and 21 exclusive phone numbers from telecom giants du and Etisalat were auctioned. The proceeds from this auction were allocated to support the Dh-1-billion Mother’s Endowment campaign launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. This auction had a total income of more than 38.095 million dirhams, of which a little more than 29 million dirhams came from the sale of exclusive car plates. Bids for Etisalat’s special numbers reached 4.135 million dirhams, while du’s special numbers rose to 4.935 million dirhams.

Meanwhile, the number 058-7777777 received the highest bid of 3.2 million dirhams after hard competition. Another noteworthy number, 054-5555555, was sold for AED 2.875 million. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) U79 number plate begun the auction at AED 800,000 and closed at AED 2.55 million. Most numbers were sold between AED 2.5 million to AED 3 million, with V39 being the top seller at AED 4 million. The auction’s title was: ‘The Most Noble Numbers’, and was organized by Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) together with Emirates Auction, and supported by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Etisalat, and Emirates Integrated TeleCommunications Company (du). The auction adds to Dubai’s history of selling valuable plates, with last year’s P7number plate selling for Dh55 million after severe bidding.
